Techology Challenge
Kids love to take things apart. During this course campers will take apart broken electronic equipment and build their own functioning robots. We provide them with advice and all the tools they need to safely take apart broken tape players, VCRs, CD players etc. in order to find motors, rollers and other parts to build their own robots. Campers are introduced to the components of a complete electrical circuit and use this knowledge to build their own moving robots. Construction techniques and soldering skills are taught and the campers are guided in making their design a reality. Campers keep everything they build!
In addition, these campers are introduced to the fundamentals of computer programming with the familiar materials of LEGO. They use the original programmable LEGO RCX “Brick,” designed at MIT. This controller is powerful yet easily programmed with drag and drop pictures. By learning to program, campers take the next step and make their robots smart.
